This vital ministry to the lost provides opportunities for FBC congregants (as well as other like-minded followers of Christ) to participate with and/or support those who take to the streets with evangelistic zeal in order to make Jesus Christ known at some of the darkest places in the modern world … abortion clinics.
“Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks…” Proverbs 1:20-21
We aspire to have a persistent loving Gospel presence on the sidewalks of, particularly, the abortion providers located nearest the Faith Bible Church campus and, as warranted, the greater Atlanta area.
At a pragmatic level, the eventual closure of these institutions would be a desired outcome. In the short term, we have a passion to see “crisis pregnancies” deliver the child at risk and direct the mothers to appropriate help, support, and to the truth of the Gospel. In every way we want our agenda to be Christ-centered. We go to these dark places to shine the light of Jesus Christ.
“The people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned. From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’” Matthew 4:16,17
Yes, we make much of Christ as we go, stand, and plead for the lives of the precious babies being at risk of their innocent death. This work requires a church body that is engaged in the mission and involved in the ministry…
Prayer from the sidelines – we need prayer warriors to “hold the rope” as those on the frontline engage in proclaiming truth for Christ and for life while on the sidewalks of these facilities in an environment of spiritual warfare that occurs as we take our stand .
Prayer on the frontline – we need prayer warriors on the sidewalk with us as the gospel is being preached to mothers, fathers, abortion workers, and to the areas surrounding the institutions that take the lives of innocent unborn children. These fields are ripe for the harvest, and the mere presence of many laborers standing together has its impact as patrons approach!
Pleading – earnest pleas to mothers and fathers seeking abortion or having had an abortion, include clearly communicating to them that abortion is the murder of a human being made in the image of God. We declare the solemn truth that God already knows that individual child (Psalm 139, Jeremiah 1:5, etc.), that God hates hands that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17). We make clear the ultimate end of a life wasted in sin and rebellion against almighty God and the cross-centered offer of grace and forgiveness for those who will repent and believe in Christ alone.
Thus declares the LORD God, “Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die.” Ezekiel 18:4
Solely by the grace of God and the empowerment of his Spirit, we go about this with gentleness and respect.
“Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.” 1 Peter 2:12
Preaching – we proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ with love and compassion. To be truly pro-life means that we uncompromisingly point souls to Jesus Christ, who came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10)! Our fervent prayer is to see babies born, and to see moms, dads, and abortion workers born again!
Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” John 5:24
Biblical counseling is a core ministry of Faith Bible Church, and necessarily contributes in ministering both to repentant moms and dads who have turned away from aborting their child, and to those who are suffering the consequences of having gone through with an abortion.
Rescue the Perishing (RtP) ministry participants may be likened to spiritual paramedics that labor at ground zero. They take the glorious gospel directly into hostile territory—to the lost and dying souls who are blindly intent on killing their unborn children. As God mercifully softens hearts and grants repentance through the preaching of the Word, the souls of these moms and dads require ongoing care and discipleship through continued, faithful ministry of the Word. FBC’s skilled biblical counselors are equipped and ready!
Care – The ultimate objective of RtP is to guide repentant parents and post-aborts into the loving arms of good church families. While a gospel-centered pregnancy resource center has its role to play in assisting these families, the body of Christ has its calling to minister to the needs of souls and to make disciples of our great Savior! What better aid to offering a safe place of hope and care than Faith Bible Church (as well as other like-minded churches)? Again, we desire to see the church body engaged in this mission! FBC counselors and lay people are well equipped to love, support, and disciple those whom God has called out of the darkness.
