ORIENTATION FOR ALL CLASSES, SATURDAY AUGUST 26TH 9AM – 11AM

Introduction to Biblical Counseling

Biblical Counseling TrainingCourse Covers: Fundamentals of Biblical Counseling, Methodology of Biblical Counseling, Theology of Biblical Counseling, Peacemaking, Medical Issues in Counseling, and Counseling! Problems. Students will also observe several counseling cases.

Schedule: The class meets the first and third Saturday of each month September 16th to December 2nd and January 2nd through April 21st from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Textbooks and workbooks: Care and Discipleship Level 1 Handbook and Workbook by Jim Newheiser and Counseling: How to Counsel Biblically edited by John MacArthur and Wayne Mack.
Textbook and workbook costs are approximately $65 and are available at Amazon.com or your own source.

This course provides most of the basic instruction for completing certification examinations with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC).

Advanced Biblical Counseling One

Course Covers: A methodology for in-depth soul care, marriage counseling, a biblical theology of suffering, and counseling from the Psalms.

Schedule: The class meets the first and third Saturday of each month September 16th to December 2nd and January 2nd through April 21st from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Textbooks: Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands and Study Guide by Paul D. Tripp, God’s Healing for Life’s Losses by Robert Kellemen, When Sinners Say, “I Do” by Dave Harvey.
Textbooks are approximately $50 and are available at Amazon.com or your own source.

Prerequisite: Completion of Introduction to Biblical Counseling at an ACBC certified training center. The courses are subject to change, depending upon enrollment.


Advanced Biblical Counseling Two

Biblical Counseling Training
Schedule: Advanced 2 counseling class will meet the second and fourth Saturdays of each month September 10th through November 26th and January 14th through April 22nd. Class hours are 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM.

Textbooks: First Semester: Scripture and Counseling God’s Word for Life in a Broken World edited by Bob Kellemen and Jeff Forrey CrossTalk: Where Life and Scripture Meet by Michael Emlet. Second Semester: Uprooting Anger, Biblical Help for a Common Problem by Robert D. Jones; Killing Sin Habits, Conquering Sin with Radical Faith by Stuart Scott.

Biblical Counseling and Discipleship Principles and Insights from the
Pilgrim’s Progress

Course Covers: This course will be using the classic, The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan to learn principles on issues we all face in the Christian life. This course will provide rich theological and counseling insights to help you counsel and disciple others in the “journey to the Celestial City”.

Schedule: The class meets the second Saturday of each month September 16th 2017 through May 14th 2018.

First Semester: We will be using Dr. Wayne Mack’s new book, Christian Life Issues, a commentary on Cheryl  Ford’s faithful modern translations which uses a chapter format of The Pilgrim’s Progress. Volume 1 is The Beginning of the Journey, chapters 1-5. The appendices of the book provide excellent, in-depth biblical resources for helping others. Classes will depend on the student reading the assignments and engaging in a lively discussion on the lessons learned.

Second Semester: We will use Volume 2 of Dr. Wayne Mack’s excellent book, Christian Life Issues. This will cover chapters 6-17 of Cheryl  Ford’s rendition of The Pilgrim’s Progress.

Textbooks: Christian Life Issues, a commentary on Cheryl V. Ford’s faithful modern translations which uses a chapter format of The Pilgrim’s Progress, Dr. Wayne Mack.

Prerequisite: There are no requirements, but those interested in biblical counseling as a ministry in their church should take Introduction to Biblical Counseling and Advanced One courses .
