Here’s a quick catch up on some building project needs and progress.
First, let me thank and congratulate all of our Faith Bible Church family for solid, encouraging, patient, God-centered attitudes. The folks who are connected to the project regularly mention how good the church family’s outlook and optimism has been, even in the face of the suffering we have endured. To God alone be the glory!
Secondly, the primary prayer request right now and for the next handful of days is that God would grant us lending bank approval of the funds needed to complete the project. Lord willing, they will decide on Tuesday, October 16th. So, let’s pray that God would enable them to approve!
We have committed to phased construction to “dry in” the front addition. This means that all the exterior would be finished enough to be weather tight: glass door entryway, windows, brick and stucco work, roofing and weatherproofing of the roof, including the joining framing for connecting the new roof to the existing auditorium roof. Next week brick will be delivered and masonry started. The framing of the brick “columns” at the corners and behind the portico area has already begun. Where you see the black coating on the outside of hollow block walls, that is a special waterproofing so that moisture does not invade between the hollow block and brick surfaces. It also marks where it will be covered with brick.
In the meantime, our Audio Visual contractor has come in to prepare the Youth Room (YR) and Fellowship Hall (FH) with new AV setup. One of the key reasons for the upgrade is so that we ALL can use the FH and YR as our temporary auditorium during construction and reconfiguration of the present auditorium. Being able to do in in-house will save a bunch of money (we don’t have to rent a worship auditorium somewhere else) and allow us to continue other ministry programs without transportation or scheduling conflicts (because we’ll all still be right on the property) and give us better long-term AV capabilities for other programming. We should be able to seat approx. 250 in the FH and another 150 in the YR. The FH will be the live worship experience; the YR will have a live video feed for the worship service —- when we move to transition phase.
