Building Project announcement for Sunday, March 4, 2018
You may have noticed that there hasn’t been much work going on in the new building project the last few weeks.
What you may not be aware of, is that our lending bank, our architect, and I have been concerned with Place Construction Group’s practices. Specifically, there has been a lack of documentation for pricing and reporting, concerns about professional standards, and a general lack of progress on the project.
After extensive discussion with all parties involved and researching what our options are, we have terminated the services of Place Construction Group. We are actively connecting with a new general contractor, who is willing to assume the project, apparently without any increase in costs to the current estimates. Obviously, this has an impact on our long-hoped-for completion date, possibly setting opening day to sometime in August.
The local construction company we’re now working with has an outstanding reputation for integrity. They have reviewed our plans and the job site. Already, they have shown a level of high standards and expertise that are a clear improvement to what we have experienced in the past. This week you should begin to notice positive changes in the appearance, organization, and compliance of the job site to professional standards.
The Elders have very heavy hearts that this project has taken much longer and cost more than we originally expected. However, we believe that we have now dealt with the issues which have been at the root of our concerns. By God’s grace, we can move forward with confidence in His good plans for us.
As always, please feel free to contact me or any of the Elders if you have further questions or comments.
Just one more thought: It may not be wise for any of us, because of ongoing potential legal ramifications, to mention any specific concerns in public forums or social media.
Your servant in God’s grace,
Building Project Coordinator
